56 place day nursery
Bedfordshire East Schools Trust and its partners wanted to bring health, education and children’s services together in one new building, which was to include a 56 place day nursery. They also wanted to be as environmentally sensitive as possible.
In a project lasting 20 months, we designed and built a building that minimised the demand for energy and achieved ‘exemplar status’ for its design and operational performance. The building used energy efficient lighting and heating systems and renewable energy technologies to deliver genuine carbon benefit. Its carbon neutral status has resulted in low operating costs and utility bills. The Trust is also able to sell the surplus back to the National Grid.
The project was delivered ahead of time and within budget and won a Local Authority Building Control (LABC) Central region Excellence Award

Our working relationship over many years is commendation in itself. We trust in HLP’s quality of service, variety and depth of expertise, speed of response and absolute value for money. They are, in essence, an extension of our in house team. Mark Roberts - Head of Store Development – Poundland“We were really happy with the way HLP managed this project and found them really approachable. They interpreted my vision perfectly, took the stress out of the whole project and have managed all the details while the work was being carried out. I would recommend them.” Luke Burns - Cybex
